1. Cryptocurrency Price Risk
Cryptocurrency prices are highly volatile. The value of a crypto asset can change significantly between the moment you open a trade and the moment it settles. Past price performance does not predict future performance. You bear all price risk associated with assets you hold.
2. Counterparty Risk
FiatFussion is a marketplace. The party on the other side of every trade is another individual user. While our escrow and dispute systems substantially reduce counterparty risk, they do not eliminate it. Bad actors can:
- Submit fake payment proof and attempt to release crypto without paying.
- Pay via reversible methods (cards, certain mobile-money rails, PayPal) and reverse the payment after receiving crypto.
- Attempt to move you off-platform, where our chat record cannot be used in disputes.
- File false disputes to delay or steal escrowed funds.
Mitigations include in-platform-only chat, KYC verification, reputation systems, and our dispute-resolution team — but ultimate vigilance is yours.
3. Payment-Method Risk
- Reversible methods (cards, PayPal, certain mobile-money rails): can be reversed by the buyer after payment. Sellers should require KYC, longer escrow holds, and trade only with high-reputation counterparties.
- Bank transfers: generally final once settled, but pending or fraudulent transfers may be reversed by banks.
- Mobile money: instant and usually final, but operator-specific reversal policies exist. Confirm receipt in your wallet, not just an SMS notification.
- Cash: highest counterparty trust required. In-person handoffs carry physical safety risk.
- Gift cards / vouchers: historically prone to fraud (stolen / duplicate codes). FiatFussion enforces stricter KYC for these.
4. Regulatory Risk
Cryptocurrency regulation varies dramatically by country and changes frequently. Some jurisdictions restrict, ban, or heavily regulate cryptocurrency trading. You are responsible for verifying that your use of the Service is legal in your jurisdiction. The Service may suspend access from regions based on regulatory requirements at any time.
5. Tax Risk
Cryptocurrency trading creates tax obligations in most jurisdictions — capital gains, income, VAT, or otherwise depending on local rules. FiatFussion does not provide tax advice and does not file taxes on your behalf. Consult a tax professional in your jurisdiction.
6. Technology & Operational Risk
- Service outages: the platform may experience downtime due to maintenance, attacks, or third-party failures. During outages, open trades may be paused.
- Blockchain risk: network congestion, fork events, validator issues, or chain reorganizations can affect transaction finality.
- Wallet risk: loss of your authentication credentials or 2FA device may result in loss of access to your account and any crypto in your platform wallet. Use strong passwords, enable 2FA, and back up recovery codes.
- Phishing: attackers may impersonate FiatFussion via email, social media, or fake websites. Always verify the URL and never share your password or 2FA codes.
7. Liquidity Risk
Some crypto / fiat / payment-method combinations have thin liquidity. You may not find a counterparty at your desired price, or at all, in some pairs at some times. Larger trades may take longer to fill or may need to be split across multiple counterparties.
8. No Investment Advice
FiatFussion is a marketplace and software provider. Nothing on this site, in our communications, or in the Service constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. We do not recommend buying, selling, or holding any specific cryptocurrency.
9. Suitability
Cryptocurrency trading is not suitable for everyone. Before using FiatFussion, consider:
- Your financial position and ability to absorb losses.
- Your investment objectives and time horizon.
- Your understanding of cryptocurrency, P2P trading, and the specific payment methods you intend to use.
- Your jurisdiction's laws on cryptocurrency.
